KellyDeli, owners of international sushi franchise Sushi Daily, is set to launch a new hot food range at 22 of its counters in Waitrose stores.
From the beginning of November, customers in locations across Greater London as well as Glasgow and Bracknell will be able to purchase four new curry and ramen dishes available to heat at home.
In true Sushi Daily style, the new food-to-go range is bursting with flavour and brimming with natural ingredients. Sold chilled, the heat-at-home menu boasts three popular chicken recipes, including two classic noodle dishes, as well as a succulent prawn option with each product retailing at approximately £8.00:
- Chicken Katsu Curry – £7.90
- Chicken Ramen – £7.90
- Chicken Yakisoba – £7.90
- Prawn Yakisoba – £8.50
Chicken Katsu Curry, a panko-crusted chicken breast with plain rice and a smooth aromatic curry sauce, is one of Japan’s most popular dishes and has quickly become a UK favourite sold in restaurants and gastropubs across the country.
Chicken Ramen, another traditional staple, is a famous noodle soup made with tender chicken pieces, ramen noodles, spinach and tomago egg (a Japanese folded omelette). It is accompanied by bamboo shoots and topped with a fine shredded chilli called ito togarashi, served in an umami-packed shoyu broth.
The final dish, Yakisoba, is one of Japan’s best-known street foods. The stir-fry, available with chicken or prawns, is served on a bed of noodles, dressed with crunchy vegetables, sesame seeds and spring onions, flavoured with a sweet-savoury sauce.
KellyDeli’s UK managing director Ian Roberts commented: “This is a really exciting launch for us. We are passionate about delivering new and exciting products to our customers to surprise and delight them.
“Most of us are dining out less this year than we would ordinarily, and the colder months are fast approaching. We wanted to offer our customers something that would provide a comforting alternative to our signature chilled range, but also create a restaurant-quality experience from the safety of their own home.
“Health has always been a key driver for us, and this range is no different, but the idea here is that customers can enjoy some no-fuss, guilt-free comfort food which can be picked up during their weekly shop.”
