Lidl UK has announced a partnership with Channel 4 as part of its ‘Make Christmas a Lidl Special’ campaign, with a series of adverts featuring presenter, Katie Piper and comedian, Alex Brooker – both of whom are parents and extreme Christmas enthusiasts.
The three ‘Lidl tales’ will air from 20:10 on 7 December and run until 31 December as a follow-on from the retailer’s current Christmas adverts. The TV ads will see Katie and Alex discussing how they have gone the extra mile to make Christmas special for their kids and families; including Katie’s hilarious experience with an extra-large Christmas tree and Alex’s visible-from-space light displays!
Katie Piper explained: “I think we all want Christmas to be as special as it can be, and especially when you have children you can get a little carried away. However there are easier and more affordable ways to make Christmas special, and Lidl’s campaign demonstrates just that.”
Alex Brooker added:“I’ve always loved Christmas and now that I have my own children, it’s even more special. It’s great to be part of a campaign that celebrates going that extra mile.”
Lidl’s partnership with Channel 4 also features some of the retailer’s festive food and drink highlights, and follows the launch of Lidl’s outdoor advertising campaign this week which took a sassy swipe at its grocery competitors.
Ryan McDonnell, commercial director at Lidl UK, commented: “Christmas is a time to upgrade the whole experience when treating friends and family; something which Katie and Alex capture perfectly in these story-telling settings. Our Channel 4 ads aim to use humour and a welcoming atmosphere to remind customers that Lidl is the only place to properly upgrade their festive celebrations, with delicious food and drink without the hefty shopping receipt.”
