Bed industry innovators and British family-owned bed manufacturer, Hypnos, is further investing in its team, training, machinery and responsible product innovation, to increase capacity and meet consumer demand for its award-winning brand and sustainable products.
The continued investment follows a three-month programme launched in August 2021 in response to industry-wide labour shortages and saw the brand recruit and fully train more than 50 new members of staff at its Princes Risborough Factory, to expand mattress capacity by 50% and enable it to satisfy growing consumer and retailer demand.
In addition, Hypnos also invested more than £250,000 in new equipment and fine-tuned its factory layout, increasing mattress manufacturing space by another 30%, to further amplify capacity, enhance productivity and support retailers in satisfying New Year orders and reduce lead-times on made-to-order products.
James Keen, CEO of Hypnos, commented: “We are experiencing strong demand from consumers and retailers alike who value our British heritage, family spirit provenance, as well as our premium, sustainable and royally-approved products, particularly following the launch of our new Origins inspired Orthos Support collections.
“We are committed to supporting our retailers in providing their customers with comfort with integrity, which is why we have made significant investments in 2021 and will be continuing to do so in 2022. For example, we are already recruiting an additional 15 new employees to join our team early in the new year, to further improve retail capacity and service targets. Our contract business is also going from strength-to-strength, and we have recruited a further 50 new employees at our Castle Donnington location too in response to demand for our brand.
“Furthermore, we are continuing to work with our wider supply chain to further reduce material lead times, whilst placing stronger emphasis on responsible sourcing from new UK suppliers. Building on our ethical and sustainable brand partnerships with organisations including Red Tractor, the Woolkeepers, the Better Cotton initiative and CottonConnect, will also be a focus for 2022, to deepen our commitment to the responsible sourcing of traceable, natural, safe and low carbon certified materials.
“With the imminent consumer launch of our new long-term partnership with the Eden Project too, covering a range of charity, community and product development projects, 2022 is set to be an exciting year for Hypnos team, our retailer partners, suppliers and our communities and we look forward to working together.”
