Major General John Henderson, the General Officer commanding all British forces in Germany, has paid a visit to the James Hall Bowland View site on 28 August 2014 to thank the company for the support it has given to the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) and its troops overseas since 1997.
Over those 17 years, James Hall has supplied more than 24m cases to men and women abroad, including 35 stores to the NAAFI bases in Germany.
During the visit, General Henderson had a full tour of the site including its warehouse, production area and offices, giving him the chance to meet as many staff as possible. The tour was then followed by a presentation by Dominic Hall on the company’s history and its connection to NAAFI.
General Henderson then gave his own address to staff, thanking them for their work in assuring “a little taste of home” to troops and their families away from home.
To mark the occasion, he presented a shield to the company on behalf of the British military, which featured the regimental badge worn by British Forces in Germany.
Dominic Hall, deputy managing director, James Hall, said: “It has been a great privilege to work with NAAFI.
“By 2019 the last of our forces are scheduled to have left Germany, however serving NAAFI has been an honour, and we will continue to offer the very best standards of service until the last troops have left.”
Since 1921, NAAFI has actively supported Britain’s Armed Forces in campaigns all around the world, providing an important link to home for men and women serving our country.
