Manchester Arndale, the UK’s largest inner-city shopping centre, reports it has beaten its best-ever footfall figures for a Saturday clocking up nearly 250,000 shoppers on 1 December 2012.
According to the centre, it is now set to beat its end of year annual footfall target of 40m visitors.
Comparing year-on-year figures, the record Saturday figure is an increase of +7%.
David Allinson, centre director for Manchester Arndale, said: “During 2012 Manchester Arndale has already enjoyed year-on-year growth in visitors and December has got off to a flying start. The record Saturday footfall is the highest figure ever witnessed in the centre’s history which is a real achievement for us. We are now anticipating a strong run up to Christmas and the centre’s extended opening hours means we can cope with this additional demand.”
