Metcalfe’s launches two new NPD ranges as part of under-100 calorie range extension

Leading UK snacks brand Metcalfe’s has launched two brand new formats of low-calorie snacking products – Corn Chips and Mini Ricecakes.

Metcalfe’s Corn Chips are popped, triangular boldly-seasoned snacks and available in two flavours, moreish Nacho Cheese (92 calories) and smoky, rich Sizzlin’ BBQ (94 calories). Both new products offer a lower calorie alternative to savoury impulse snacking occasions, coming in individual impulse 22g bags.

The second new range of NPD is the chocolate-covered Metcalfe’s Mini Ricecakes, which contain a mix of wholegrain and white rice for a snack with added crunch. Available in three flavours; Milk Chocolate (81 calories), Dark Chocolate with Orange (79 calories) and White Chocolate (80 calories), these convenient 16g packs of four rice cakes also come in at under 100 calories per pack. The launch of this snack pack format follows the news that the existing larger 34g Metcalfe’s Ricecakes have become the No.1 seller from the entire Kettle Foods ‘On The Go’ range in several major convenience retailers.

Metcalfe’s senior brand manager Sam Garnham says: “Many consumers are now looking for options with lower fat, sugar or salt contents. With this range expansion, Metcalfe’s provides the perfect solution offering both choice and great taste, with the added assurance that portions are under the 100 calorie mark.”

All of Metcalfe’s products are vegetarian-friendly and gluten-free, including their Sweet Chilli skinny popcorn, which launched earlier this Summer. These new products complete the new-look range, which also contains bestsellers Sweet ‘n’ Salt, Cinema Sweet, Salted Caramel and Sea Salt as part of the Metcalfe’s skinny popcorn collection, and the larger Ricecakes.
