GBG, global leader in identity data intelligence, today announces the launch of its partnership with Buymie; a mobile e-commerce app which enables a personal grocery delivery service to homes in as little as an hour.
At a time when UK supermarkets are facing up to ten times their normal demand, retailers need to scale up the delivery options available to consumers, whilst remaining as contactless as possible to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Buymie and GBG are working together to revolutionise retail deliveries for those unable or unwilling to venture to brick and mortar supermarkets.
The importance of knowing your delivery is in safe hands is crucial to customer satisfaction, and it can be hard to buy with confidence in our digital-first world. With GBG, Buymie is able to rapidly conduct due diligence checks on its personal shoppers, ensuring thorough and fully-compliant screening is carried out before the onboarding process begins. As the UK’s largest criminal record check (DBS) provider, GBG’s expertise helps Buymie automate this process. Having access to GBG’s KnowYourPeople online portal makes the process quick and easy. It can be efficiently managed by multiple individuals within Buymie’s acquisition and onboarding team, saving up to 10 days’ worth of admin.
Buymie contracts with personal shoppers to collect goods, speak with customers if their choices are unavailable in store, and deliver in as little as an hour. Having supplied nearly half a million households in Ireland, the company is now starting deliveries in Bristol. Vetting the personal shoppers with GBG’s KnowYourPeople service is a vital part of ensuring continued business growth and expansion to more UK cities as demand increases.
Devan Hughes, CEO and co-founder of Buymie, said: “We’ve seen strong demand from UK consumers for swift, reliable, and cost-effective grocery delivery services. Because of this demand, we have accelerated our UK expansion plans to support our retail partners in offering same-day delivery capacity, and our partnership with GBG allows us to do this with trust and safety at the very core of our offering.”
Alister Humphreys, general manager, at GBG, added: “Access to reliable deliveries is now more crucial than ever, but people are also understandably feeling more vulnerable about who is handling them. With our technology, Buymie can reassure customers that the personal shopper at their door will have a clear and clean record. This safe, secure solution, for people who cannot – or aren’t comfortable – visiting high street supermarkets, will give comfort to many. We’re delighted to be working with Buymie to help people during these challenging times, and support the UK economy.”
