The fit-out of New Look’s largest standalone menswear store has been completed in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

Newcastle-based Aptus Shopfitting was appointed to develop the UK’s largest New Look Men store, covering a 3,800sq ft space at intu Metrocentre, Gateshead.

It is the 13th new UK menswear store to have been opened by New Look.

New Look is an international retailer of apparel, footwear and accessories for women, men and teenage girls with over 800 stores in 21 countries.

Chief creative officer Roger Wightman said: “Menswear is a key strategic priority for New Look, and the opening of the menswear standalone stores represents a natural next step for us. We are veryproud of the improvements made to our offer over the past two years – the opening of menswear standalone stores will allow us to more fully showcase the enhanced quality of our product ranges.”

Aptus converted what was previously a River Island unit opposite the retailer’s existing site into a new store with an industrial design featuring concrete, brick, steel and a 50sq ft AV screen.

Chris Price, commercial director and co-founder of Aptus, said: “While we have been increasing the national spread of our work in recent years, it’s always great to work on big projects in our native North East. I’m sure the store will be a huge success.”

As well as working with retailers, leisure firms, healthcare organisations and universities, Aptus works jointly on projects with architects, designers, surveyors and property consultants.
