Fashion retailer New Look is the fastest grower in the latest ChannelAdvisor UK Facebook Commerce Index, which charts retailers’ fan bases on the social network site.
New Look, which is ranked third in the overall league, attracted 196,693 new likes in February and is rapidly closing the gap on ASOS, said ChannelAdvisor. Top Shop remains out in front and was the second fastest grower last month.
Next and Tesco also grew strongly, accumulating over 100,000 new fans each.
New Look’s Valentine’s Day “buff bod” competition may well have contributed to this month’s impressive Facebook performance, said ChannelAdvisor.
Tesco’s surge in fans could be attributed to a new virtual fitting room, whereby fans can try on a variety of different items while at home, researchers said.
In percentage terms, HMV topped February’s growth table with a 48% increase in its fan base.
Amazon.co.uk, Matalan, Boden and Chemist Direct were not far behind, all in the top five % growers, said ChannelAdvisor.
