A new marketplace technology has launched in the UK today that allows retailers to host transactions between buyers and sellers of products, dramatically increasing their product range and introducing a profitable new sales channel.
Already working with some of Europe’s biggest retailers, Mirakl has dramatically boosted online profits and product range for French online retailer Fnac.com and MedicAnimal.com will the first UK-based retailer to work with Mirakl from its new UK office.
The European online retailer of pet accessories and veterinary supplies will expand its product range by including a large number of additional sellers, whilst at the same time guaranteeing a secure and high-quality customer experience in keeping with the rest of the site.
“This new partnership will add an extra service to MedicAnimal.com and allow us to better serve our community of online sellers, taking our services for pet owners to the next level,” said Ivan Retzignac, CEO of MedicAnimal.com. “Offering an increased range of products and services is key to growing the brand and the relationship with Mirakl plays a big part in this expansion.”
Mirakl is a provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) marketplace platforms that fit seamlessly with a retailers’ brand and existing online presence to offer increased product choice and profits without inventory and logistics costs and restraints.
“People have seen the enormous success of online marketplaces such as Amazon and the model works just as well for a retailer’s own online presence,” said Adrien Nussenbaum, co-founder and head of sales,Mirakl. “Mirakl’s Marketplace Platform© works for all parties. Retailers offer more products, better service and have a new revenue stream, customers benefit from more product choice, highly competitive pricing and outstanding customer service whilst suppliers have a new channel with which to reach potential customers.”
Mirakl’s Marketplace Platform was designed to provide retailers and media organisations with all the advantages of a bespoke solution without the inconveniences of cost, deadlines and infrastructure. As a SaaS, Mirakl is flexible and built on Service-Oriented Architecture that can be customised to suit specific needs. Mirakl can scale the marketplace to whatever size is required and the platform integrates seamlessly with a retailer’s existing systems.
Launched in 2011 by Philippe Corrot and Adrien Nussenbaum, French technology start-up Mirakl secured €2.5M in funding in 2012 and already works with some of Europe’s top retailers, including Groupe Auchan and high-end department store Galeries Lafayette.
Online retailer Fnac.com has seen spectacular results since implementing Mirakl’s marketplace. Marketplace now accounts for 25% of all online business, has drastically boosted online profits and increased the product range from 600,000 products to 15 million, with no inventory and logistics investment.
“The traditional retail model is challenged – people know this but many are burying their head in the sand,” said Adrien Nussenbaum, Mirakl. “It is getting harder and harder for a high street or even online retailer to be profitable, holding all their stock at a competitive price and getting that stock out to customers within 24 hrs. Mirakl’s Online Marketplace Platform allows a retailer to ‘stock’ millions of new products without the associated costs, offering its customers a fully-branded environment that looks and feels like the rest of its website.”
