Boots’ own brand No7 has been officially voted the UK’s favourite beauty brand, according to new research.

The brand, which was the first complete range launched by Boots in 1935 and is perhaps best known for its anti-ageing skincare products, beat beauty hall rivals including Nivea and L’Oréal (ranked second and third respectively) to the number one spot.

The survey of 1,001 UK adults, commissioned to mark the launch of the One4all Beauty & Spa Favourites Gift Card, also reveals demand for cult functional beauty brand, The Ordinary, was found to be 10 times more popular amongst the under 25s than with those aged 45+.

The brand is known for making high performance skincare ingredients more accessible for the masses, simple packaging and affordable prices and has been revered by celebrities from Kim Kardashian to Holly Willoughby.

According to the findings, the average British women spends £384 per year on beauty products including skincare, make up and perfume. However, men’s spending on grooming was not so far behind women’s, with the average man incurring a yearly skin and hair care spend of £308.

The data reveals that despite statistically having the lowest average income of all the age groups, it is the younger generation who are spending the most on beauty products each month, with those aged 16-25 averaging a monthly spend of £53 – or £636 over the course of a year.

The under 25s more generally are spending an eye-watering £1,308 per year on beauty and salon services – which is impressive considering most are at the start of their careers.

Indeed, the favourite beauty brands of those under 25 feature typically more expensive brands with MAC and Urban Decay taking the top spots – both of which feature bottles of foundation within their ranges for between £25-£35.

Aoife Davey, Senior Marketing Director at One4all Favourites Gift Cards, comments on the findings: “There are certainly some clear staples within the beauty sector that women and men alike have been reaching for time and time again. No7, Nivea and L’Oréal are without question here to stay – but it’s exciting to see the interest around up and coming beauty brand, The Ordinary, which only launched in 2016 and is already a firm favourite amongst celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Holly Willoughby.

“We were also interested to see that the younger generation are investing in higher value beauty brands such as MAC and Urban Decay and professional spa and salon services.”

One4all Favourites Gift Cards are the ideal gifting choice for those wanting to give a gift which reflects someone’s personality and interests, when they are not sure exactly what brand or item to buy them.
