NOVELTEA reaches key company milestone as it announces carbon negative status

Award-winning alcoholic tea brand, NOVELTEA has reached a key milestone in the company’s green mission by officially becoming a carbon negative business.

In its pursuit for best-in-class carbon status, NOVELTEA now offsets double the amount of carbon per bottle through carefully selected charity partners.

NOVELTEA has partnered with Myanmar Stoves Campaign to offset 10 tonnes of CO2, a weight comparable to 5 white rhinos – one of the heaviest land animals in the world.

The company has also partnered with United Nations: Angkor Bio Cogen Rice Husk Rower Project to offset a further 200 tonnes of CO2 – that’s roughly the same weight as a blue whale, the ocean’s heaviest creature.

Sustainability is at the core of the NOVELTEA business and plans are already in place to take its green initiative further by reducing carbon and plastic consumption by 10% year on year. The company is also already making strides in becoming a plastic negative business, with a long-term ambition to take in more plastic than it offloads.

Going forward, NOVELTEA and parent company, Tea Venture Ltd will be analysing its business in granular detail, proactively taking steps to shift away from offsetting carbon to eliminating it as much as possible.

This will involve making sophisticated measurements and calculations across business processes, taking steps to avoid and reduce carbon outputs in all possible areas and ultimately only offsetting anything that cannot be avoided or reduced.
