O2 on the look-out for the next generation of retail stars


At the time of year when thousands of students are thinking about their next step, O2 is offering the opportunity to kick-start a career in retail, extending its apprenticeship programme to its retail stores for the very first time.

With 10, 18-month placements up for grabs across retail hotspots in London and Manchester, O2 is giving young people the chance to take their first step on the retail career ladder, as part of a fast-moving digitally-focused team.

As part of a rigorous retail apprenticeship programme, successful applicants will be given in-depth training specifically designed to help them excite and inspire people about the possibilities of technology and connectivity, O2 said. This is an extension of O2’s existing apprenticeship programme which has given hundreds of talented young people the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a range of departments and skills, including operations, sales, marketing, IT and networks.

The new retail apprentices can expect to receive:

  • face-to-face, online and sales floor experiential coaching –  every apprentice will be matched with their own personal mentor on hand to help at every step of the way
  • the chance to ‘earn while they learn’ –  a nationally-recognised qualification alongside invaluable work experience
  • full exposure to O2’s retail culture – a thorough understanding of O2’s commitment to its 23 million customers and the importance of the O2 customer experience
  • a permanent job at the end – all O2 apprentices are offered a permanent role from day one, in recognition of their role in the future of the business

Applications for retail apprenticeships are open now and close at noon on 11 September. Successful applicants will begin their apprenticeships on 20 October.
