Omega Pharma bolsters management team in OTC expansion in UK and Ireland

Omega Pharma has appointed a new commercial director and head of supply chain, having recently restructured its senior management team following the acquisition of 10 leading household brands from GlaxoSmithKline.

According to the company, the move looks to strengthen its status as a top five consumer healthcare company in the UK and Ireland as well as supporting brand expansion within market leading categories; Sleep (Nytol), Weight Management (XL Medical), Hay Fever (Beconase and Prevalin) and Pharmacy Analgesics (Solpadeine).

Chris Rudd will join Omega Pharma as commercial director for UK and Ireland. The former Reckitt Benckiser shopper and customer marketing director brings with him over 10 years of experience and a reputation for delivering results and adding customer value.

In this role, Rudd will aid Omega Pharma’s development of customer partnerships, in addition to building the company’s customer and shopper marketing strategies.

Rudd said: “Over the last year Omega Pharma has seen considerable growth and invested significantly to push the OTC market forward. Its ambitious plans mean we’re in a strong position to challenge a complacent status quo amongst larger OTC manufacturers.

“In this new role I will drive Omega Pharma to being universally recognised as the leading OTC partner in the UK – something I feel we have the capability and infrastructure to easily achieve.”

Joining Chris, Rebecca Spittle will take the role of head of supply chain with Omega Pharma. Spittle brings 10 years’ experience within the supply chain function which includes success across several positions at Reckitt Benckiser and as head of demand and customer services for baby nutrition at Danone.

Omega Pharma said Spittle’s appointment represents its investment in commercial and operational functions and she will focus on the implementation of effective supply chain processes, customer relationship management and using her accreditation in Advanced Coaching Excellence to further develop the team.

Spittle said: “Joining Omega Pharma at this point in the evolution of the business presents a unique opportunity to be part of an organisation at the beginning of an exciting journey. My role will lead the management of an efficient supply chain which will deliver value to our customers and the business to ensure future growth.”

Neil Lister, general manager UK and Ireland, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of both Chris and Rebecca. Both signings put our customers’ needs at the forefront of our plans as we look to further strengthen our position as a top consumer healthcare company. Chris brings unrivalled experience which will be invaluable to our newly acquired brands. Meanwhile, Rebecca has extensive experience of leading supply chains with major UK customers including Tesco and Wal-Mart.

“These appointments move us closer to our goal of achieving retail sales of £300m in the next five years in the UK and Ireland through the development of breakthrough technologies, continued investment and by working in partnership with our customers.”
