One Stop opens ninth franchise store in Scotland and converted Louth store doubles sales

One Stop’s ninth store to start trading in Scotland, Alva, opened on Friday 1 April. A monumental project for franchisees Wasim and Farrah taking an old, empty, run down Royal Bank of Scotland building and transforming it into an amazing, fully functional, modern One Stop Franchise.

Along with a face painter, food provided for guests and goody bags for the first 50 customers, Wasim and Farrah had Keith Brown MSP constituency MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, open the store with them and cut the ribbon.

“The reaction from our customers has been fantastic which is just what we wanted,” said Wasim. “We knew it wouldn’t be an easy project, taking on a site like this would always prove to be a challenge but One Stop have been fantastic. The commitment, energy and knowledge shown by One Stop, in particular their Launch Support Managers has been second to none. We’re really excited about being part of the One Stop family and look forward to a fruitful future.”

Meanwhile, Blair and Angela Southwood, franchisees from One Stop Louth, have recorded their stores best ever sales week in the run up to Easter.

Initially a small Post Office selling some daily essentials; bread, milk and news, Blair and Angela decided that the time was right for them both to invest in an extension and simultaneously secure a long term retail partner to help them develop a convenience business. Following their launch as a One Stop Franchise in August 2015, Blair and Angela have seen sales consistently reaching more than double their previous rate, and they are still growing.

Blair comments on the support One Stop has given them along their journey so far: “We really wanted to push ourselves in the market and didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity One Stop offered. One Stop has certainly delivered with sales being better than we had ever expected, we are so happy! The range and choice we can now offer customers across grocery and chilled means we have seen a lot of new customers coming through our doors.
