Global retail innovation agency Outform has launched its iDISPLAY Thermometer, designed to help retailers provide safer spaces for customers once the COVID-19 lockdown is lifted.
The device utilises infrared thermopile and facial recognition technology to detect fever levels through body temperature readings at a store’s entrance or threshold. Anyone registering a temperature of 37.8° Celsius or above will be alerted discreetly on-screen that they may have a fever. The device works when people are wearing face masks and optional add-ons include hand sanitiser dispensers and ticketing functions to help aid the customer flow for varied retail environments.
Designed to instil a sense of trust, safety and reassurance on the post-pandemic high street, an online version of the iDISPLAY allows the unit to be integrated within retailers’ existing digital ecosystems.
The iDISPLAY Thermometer is FCC-certified and is available with several different stands, including a plinth for checkout counters, to suit various retail environments.
Ariel Haroush, CEO at Outform, says: “Hygiene and social distancing is going to be crucial in the coming months and is likely to be an ingrained behaviour for years to come. We will need to give shoppers peace-of-mind in retail environments, if we want them to return to stores – our next step is to combat pandemic anxiety once lockdown is lifted.
