WorldPay, a global leader in payment processing, has been voted as the Best Alternative Payments Programme at the 2012 Card & Payments Awards.
The judges awarded the title to WorldPay for the work it has undertaken to make alternative payment services accessible to businesses globally.
WorldPay was also shortlisted in the Best Merchant Acquiring Initiative category for its involvement in the national roll out of contactless payment terminals at McDonald’s UK restaurants.
Floris de Kort, managing director of e-commerce at WorldPay, said: “To be nominated and shortlisted for two categories at this year’s awards is an honour in itself but to be voted as the Best Alternative Payments Programme for the work we have done since the integration of Envoy Services in 2011 is a real achievement for everyone involved.”
WorldPay acquired Envoy Services, a global payments service that offers single point access to popular local payment and collection services worldwide, in May 2011.
Since integrating Envoy’s capabilities into the WorldPay portfolio, WorldPay said it has been able to deploy new alternative payment methods at a rate which far exceeds any previous market norm. As a result of the acquisition, WorldPay now offers more than 200 payment methods – more than any other provider in the market, the company claims
Phillip McGriskin, chief product officer at WorldPay, said: “The integration of the Envoy capability into the WorldPay portfolio has been incredibly seamless and as a result we’ve been able to deploy new alternative payment methods at an exponential rate. We are now offering WorldPay merchants a truly differentiated, industry-leading proposition. We are continuing to invest and innovate to provide merchants with the widest choice of payments options in the market.”
