Payzone and Barclaycard Global Payment Acceptance have announced they will work together to develop a new card acceptance service for small businesses in the UK.

Payzone said he new service will enable it to provide card acceptance services to small and growing businesses at the most competitive prices, with a simple and rapid set up process. The agreement will mean any of Payzone’s 20,000 small business customers will be able to start accepting MasterCard and Visa card payments within 24 hours of their application being approved.

For Payzone’s customers in the convenience sector, adding card acceptance to their existing Payzone terminal is now even easier and faster, the company said. Accepting cards on the Payzone terminal means no additional telephone line is needed, saving costs, and less counter space is used, creating valuable additional selling space.

Card acceptance is a fast growing part of Payzone’s services and even businesses not in Payzone’s traditional convenience sector can now benefit from an improved  card acceptance only service, Payzone said. This service already delivers the same compelling benefits of ease of use and competitive costs to thousands of businesses in the general retail sector such as hairdressers, car accessory shops, restaurants, hotels and clothing stores.

Paulette Rowe, managing director of Barclaycard global payment acceptance, said: “Barclaycard is a trusted partner to many businesses and this agreement will help Payzone deliver better and faster services to their customers.”

Steve Almond, head of card acceptance at Payzone, said: “This agreement means businesses choosing Payzone can start accepting cards quickly, so whether our customers are starting to accept cards for the first time, or want to save money by switching from their current provider, now is a really great time to talk to us at Payzone.”
