Perkier launches +Immune range of plant-based Bars and Porridge Pots

Perkier (, the innovative British company on a mission to perk up the nation’s wellbeing and protect the planet, has launched a UK first with its +Immune range of deliciously decadent plant-based Bars and Porridge Pots.

Made with all-natural ingredients and uniquely boosted with 100% NRV Vitamin D, C and B12, the products are a tasty way to support the immune system in order to better fight off respiratory infections, like seasonal flu and coronavirus. A ground-breaking first for the UK, there are no other food or drink products that provide 100% NRV of Vitamin D, C and B12.

The range is designed to meet growing consumer demand for food and drink products that support health and wellbeing. They have been launched at a time when Brits need more immune support than ever before, with consumers in the UK now spending £20 billion a year on food and drink for health reasons.

The range features two Bars: Nutty Toffee with Dark Chocolate and Salted Caramel with Dark Chocolate and three Porridge Pots: Golden Syrup, Cranberry & Chia and Original. The Bars will launch in Sainsbury’s on the 27 September in the free from aisle (RRP £1 for 37g bar or £2.75 for a multipack, 3 x 37g). The Porridge Pots are launching mid-September in the Morrisons food-to-go section (RRP £1.25 for a single pot).

The science

Each Bar and Porridge Pot in the +Immune range provides 100% NRV of Vitamin D C & B12 and so can be used as a tastier replacement for a traditional supplement.

So much more than your average snack, Perkier has developed highly functional bars: the nuts in each Perkier +Immune bar contain healthy fats to increase absorption of Vitamin D. They contain 5g prebiotic chicory fibre for a healthy gut (70% of the immune system resides in the gut), 6g of plant protein and are under 160 kcals per bar. Proudly 100 per cent plant-based, the B12 is added to support vegan diets. 50% of vegans are deficient in Vit B12 as its main sources are animal based.

The +Immune range was created in direct response to government health guidelines, which recommends fortifying diets with Vitamin D during these challenging times, to help protect the body from respiratory infections like Coronavirus.

It is specifically recommended that groups at higher risk of vitamin D deficiency take a daily supplement. These groups include:

  • all pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • infants and children under 5 years old
  • people who have low or no exposure to the sun, for example those who cover their skin for cultural reasons, are housebound, confined indoors for long periods or live in an institution such as a care home
  • people from minority ethnic groups with dark skin such as those of African, African-Caribbean and South Asian origin, who require more sun exposure to make as much vitamin D
