Lidl UK has today promised to adjust its store opening hours, should England reach the World Cup Final on Sunday 15 July.
In a show of support for the team, Lidl stores across England will open early at 9.30am for browsing, and close an hour before kick-off at 3pm, giving customers more time to stock up on essentials before the big game begins.
Christian Härtnagel, the CEO of Lidl UK said: “As the official supermarket of the England Football team, we absolutely believe it’s coming home, which is why we are planning to close stores an hour early, and take part in what we hope will become a day of national celebration.”
Lidl is feeling the effects of World Cup fever after experiencing its highest ever footfall during the tournament, as football fans flock to its stores for supplies. As the nation gets set to celebrate, with both the World Cup and Wimbledon finals, and more warm weather on the way, the supermarket is preparing for another bumper weekend.
Lidl became the official supermarket of the England Football team in 2015 as well as the official supplier of water, fruit and vegetables.
