pladis, the global snacking company behind some of the UK’s most loved and iconic brands, is broadening appeal for its £14.3 million Flipz brand over the winter months with new seasonal sharing packs.
The famous ‘swavoury’ Flipz pretzels will be taking on a new festive form, with the addition of Christmas-themed shaped pretzels in every pack. Available in the brand’s bestselling Milk Chocolate and White Fudge variants, this seasonal launch from Flipz will help retailers drive incremental sales amongst shoppers during the crucial Christmas sales period, amid predictions of a bumper December for the grocery sector.
“Innovation is at the heart of the Flipz brand and continues to be a key driver of both brand and category growth – in fact, the Flipz brand accounted for 30% of total growth in Everyday Treats over the past year,” says Jonathan Bull, head of McVitie’s commercial & seasonal brands at pladis UK&I. “We want to replicate this success over on the seasonal fixture, which is the driving force behind this new launch.
“Christmas provides us with an opportunity to boost sales across all sharing formats as sharing snacks are so instrumental to the season. We expect this to ring particularly true this year, as more households spend time at home over the festive period. We’ve increased the size of our classic Flipz bags, plus added a ‘More To Share’ flash to drive visibility and strengthen appeal among these shoppers.
“Furthermore, the addition of novel shapes and on-pack seasonal cues – which include speckles of snow and a snowman ‘i dot’ – will help draw shoppers’ attention at festive fixtures.
“Since launching in the UK in 2018, Flipz has built an incredibly loyal shopper base – with a strong repeat purchase rate of 33%. We’re excited to build on this with our pipeline of innovation, and the new Flipz Christmas sharing packs will help to inject some festive fun in-store, plus we hope these packs will help give shoppers a little lift at the end of a very testing year.”
Flipz Christmas sharing packs are available now in major retailers – including Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s – as well as in wholesale and convenience, in a 160g pack format at an RRP of £2.00. Packaging will be recyclable through pladis’ partnership with Terracycle (www.terracycle.co.uk).
