Porter Foods claims its new Vanilla Bean Paste, which includes Madagascan vanilla seeds, can be used in place of vanilla pods with no compromise to quality or flavour.

The paste comes in sachets with one sachet designed to replace one vanilla pod. According to the company, the vanilla seeds in the paste will disperse evenly throughout yoghurt, ice-cream, cheesecakes, in baking, smoothies or in whatever recipe they are used.

The paste gives the authentic taste and texture as if using straight from the pod, it says. The Vanilla Bean Paste is also available in a 270ml convenient squeezy bottle, which contains the equivalent of 30 vanilla pods. Larger sizes are available for food service on request.

Vanilla Bean Paste sachets 6 x 36g costs £17.50. Vanilla Bean Paste 270ml Squeezy bottles cost £9.50 each (four in a trade sized order).
