PrestaShop, an industry leader in open source solutions for e-commerce, announces a new partnership with global commerce and payments leader, eBay Inc. The two companies have agreed to expand their partnership and business development activities into Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This announcement follows successful partnerships between the companies in France, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Through joint development, merchants using PrestaShop’s e-commerce software can rapidly integrate their online store with the eBay marketplace to further accelerate their online sales, the companies claim. Merchants can select some or all of their product categories to share on eBay. They can customise the product information, and fully manage the store inventory between both platforms. This integration provides PrestaShop merchants with the ability to reach millions of potential buyers who shop on eBay every day, the duo claim.

PrestaShop has one of the world’s largest open source communities exclusively dedicated to ecommerce technology. With more than 620,000 members located all over the world, the community is exceptionally active and includes a mix of merchants, developers, web agencies and industry partners. Since 2007, PrestaShop’s open source software has been downloaded almost 4m times. Today, more than 185,000 stores run on PrestaShop technology.

“We are extremely proud of the results from our partnership with eBay over the past two years,” said Benjamin Teszner, CEO of PrestaShop. “The feedback from our user community is overwhelmingly positive. Integration with eBay enables PrestaShop merchants to tap into the power of one of the world’s largest marketplaces. We’re delighted to expand the geographic scope of this partnership so we can provide the best ecommerce experience for our merchants in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”

“We are very pleased that PrestaShop has now expanded its cooperation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland,” said Daniela Nalesso, Head of Partner Business, eBay Germany. “Retailers now have the opportunity to open up one more distribution channel, thus reaching more buyers with a free integration of eBay in the PrestaShop platform. The success in other European countries has shown that more and more retailers are seeing multichannel trade as a possibility of expanding their business and providing their customers with a seamless and easy shopping experience.”

The eBay module is available on the PrestaShop Market Place at no cost. For users of version 1.5 or 1.6, the eBay module comes pre-installed in the PrestaShop software. After activation, the eBay integration is fully supported in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, France, UK, Italy and Spain.

Earlier this year, PrestaShop announced significant expansion plans throughout Europe. The company is currently expanding business operations into Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland and Russia.
