Renshaw partners with Fiona Cairns to create four-tier Coronation Festival cake

The UK’s leading manufacturer of baking ingredients, Renshaw, has partnered with Fiona Cairns – the team behind the Royal Wedding cake – to create a bespoke four-tier cake to celebrate Renshaw’s involvement at this summer’s Coronation Festival.

The cake, which features a beautifully gilded recreation of the Sovereign’s Orb and intricate Renshaw marzipan and sugar paste modelling, will be displayed at the Festival, which is being held in the grounds of Buckingham Palace 11-14 July 2013. 

Fiona Cairns’ team were commissioned to create the royal wedding cake for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge in 2011 and, designed in the classic British style associated with the bakery, the Coronation Festival cake also features the flowers of the home nations – the English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and the Irish shamrock. 

Taking three days to make with every detail completely created and piped by hand, the Coronation Cake features elements of the Coronation Coach and abstract inspiration from the crown’s Fleur de Lys across its intricate tiers.    

Wanting to inspire cake decorators of all levels and experience, Renshaw chose to work with Fiona Cairns’ team because of the brand’s beautifully elegant decorative style, aspirational look-and-feel and royal association.
