Retail Times is delighted to announce the launch of a new online jobs and careers hub – Retail Talent – plus a new partnership with search and talent consultants, Wickland Westcott.
Why Retail Talent? As a leading website for retail industry news (Google us), Retail Times is ideally placed to feature and promote the top career opportunities within the retail sector. And it is a mighty important sector too.
Did you know, for example, Wal-Mart is the third largest employer in the world – yes, the world?
Retail is also the UK’s largest private sector employer with one in 10 of the workforce working in retail. UK retail sales are worth around £300bn, the third largest in the world, after the US and Japan. The sector generates 8% of UK GDP and employs around 3m people.*
That is an awful lot of talent to find and retain and the task is not helped by current skills shortages. In the UK, the food and drink manufacturing industry alone faces a 137,000 shortfall in personnel by 2017.
Now, we don’t have a magic wand but we can use our expertise to help find and place talent within the retail sector.
Why Wickland Westcott? Wickland Westcott are experts in retail recruitment. In addition to posting their top talents spots on the Retail Talent hub, they will be providing a monthly column focusing on the latest careers advice such as talent spotting, succession planning, training etc.
Retail Talent will also provide:
- A feature where job seekers can upload their CVs, which will be searchable by registered members
- A directory resource where agencies can upload their profiles, available for all users to view
- A feed to the latest jobs and articles will also feature on the homepage of Retail Times
Britain’s got talent but have you?
