With Veganuary winning more followers every year as consumers become more aware of their impact on the planet, the Veganuary 2020 Official Survey shows chocolate was the non-vegan product 18% of participants missed the most. Retailers looking to offer shoppers a vegan friendly treat in 2022 need look no further than Ritter Sport, who posted a 6th year of consecutive double digit growth at the end of 2021.
Ritter Sport‘s accidently vegan range includes Ritter Sport Marzipan, the UK‘s No1 Marzipan chocolate and two Ritter Sport Cocoa Selection bars, 61% Fine dark chocolate from Nicaragua and 74% Intense dark chocolate from Peru. Like Ritter’s entire range, these bars are made from 100% certified sustainable cocoa and 100% natural ingredients. Marzipan is available nationwide from Sainsbury’s Waitrose, OCADO, Morrisons, Wilko and most wholesalers including Bestway & Dhamecha. 74% Intense is available from OCADO and 61% fine along with the rest of the range is available from Ritter Sport’s online Choco Shop.
Without Moo – Ritter Sport tests vegan plain chocolate SKU
In time for Veganuary 2022, Ritter Sport has announced its new Vegan Without Moo, bar will be available exclusively to its D2C consumers in the New Year. Following early success in Germany, the newly launched bar will be Ritter Sport’s first vegan branded chocolate offering in the UK.
https://shop.ritter-sport.co.uk/ RRP £1.99 for 100g bar.
Without Moo is plant-based, with only four all natural ingredients; sugar, cocoa butter, minimum 50% cocoa from Nicaragua, and almond paste, which gives it its smooth, creamy taste, like milk chocolate.
Ritter Sport is trialling the bar with its online UK consumers this Veganuary. If sales are suitably sweet, Ritter Sport will be looking at grocery and convenience listings for a UK & IRE specific Vegan Without Moo bar, in 2023.
To further drive awareness and trial of its vegan range, Ritter Sport will be running a Choco Shop webstore promotion on its vegan lines throughout January 2022, offering 3 for £5 on Marzipan, 61% fine, 74% intense and Without Moo. Through a collaboration with Veganuary, those consumers participating in the awareness month will also be given a ‘1 Free bar of Without Moo with every order’ offer.
Ritter Sport is also supporting its vegan lines available in grocery, wholesale and convenience stores with a paid and organic social media marketing and PR campaign.
“There’s everything to play for with vegan-friendly chocolate,” says Katy Clark, head of marketing at Ritter Sport UK & IRE. “We know, as a nation, how much we adore milk chocolate. We’re therefore excited to add Vegan Without Moo, to our range of popular accidently vegan bars. We’ve spent a lot of time ensuring we deliver the milk chocolate taste our consumers want, just without the moo. We’re sure that they’ll love it as much as we do.”
“Retailers should look to stock up on Ritter Sport’s popular accidently vegan bars and use social media, POS, and dedicated vegan displays to drive awareness and sales in January and beyond.”
