Russia’s Ozon opens new IT lab in St. Petersburg

Ozon, a leading multi-category online marketplace, announces the opening of a new IT lab in St. Petersburg.

Ozon plans to hire more than 300 developers and engineers at the new Ozon Tech IT lab in 2021, making the Company one of the largest tech employers in the city.

In 2020, Ozon was among the top three IT companies in Russia which job applicants noted as the most recognizable and attractive on the market (according to the HeadHunter.ru portal). The company currently employs more than 1,400 IT specialists and aims to hire approximately 1,200 new developers and engineers throughout Russia in 2021.

Anton Stepanenko, chief technology officer at Ozon, commented: “Ozon’s business started in 1998 in St. Petersburg. It was here that Russia’s oldest online retailer was created, and today it has become a leader of the fast-growing e-commerce market. Without a doubt, some of the country’s best IT specialists work in St. Petersburg. For that reason, we immediately considered opening an office in the northern capital when planning the development of Ozon Tech in the Russian regions.”

Ozon was recently named the #3 most valuable IT company in Russia by Forbes.
