Shopitize: new iPhone app

Shopitize (www.shopitize.com), the new business designed to help shoppers organise their shopping via their smart phones, has released a shopping app for iPhone.

It follows hot on the heels of the company’s launch of the Android version earlier this month.

The app is claimed to revolutionise the way UK shoppers can organise their lives.

Developed in the UK, the ‘personal shopper In your pocket’ allows users to save time and money while shopping, but also places them in charge of any shopping data collected on them (usually at checkouts) for the first time, the company claims.

According to Shopitize, the app transforms smart phones into powerful personal shopping assistants for today’s smart and savvy shopper.

Functionality includes:

Integrated web & Apple iOS

Spend management

Custom reports by expense type

Receipt timeline graph

Receipt management

Free unlimited storage of digitised receipts

Automatic upload and recognition of grocery receipts

Editable receipt content (retailer, product, prices, total, date)

Classification using personal tags

Creation of manual receipts

Summary view automatically delivered to your mobile

Smart shopping lists

Automatic reminder list when it’s time to buy specific products

Create custom list items

Automatic sync between web and mobile

Receipt capture and upload

Automatic upload to web from mobile app

Shopitize members use a smart phone app to snap photos of paper shopping receipts, which are then automatically uploaded to their personal space on Shopitize’s secure servers.

Currently, the Shopitize site offers free and unlimited digital receipt storage on the web where UK shoppers can monitor their daily spending, offering them valuable insight into their personal shopping habits.

According to the company, as more people join Shopitize, more brands will provide them with personal rewards and offers, turning the Shopitize smart phone app into the ultimate 21st Century shopping assistant.

When we told people about the innovation, they asked: Can this really be done? We were delighted to say ‘yes’,” said Alexey Andriyanenko, a Shopitize director and co-founder.

“What’s more, we were thrilled to be able to develop this in the UK which has one of, if not the most dynamic retail markets in the world.

“Our web platform and apps will enable consumers to shop smarter, stretching and managing their shopping budgets like never before.

“Shopitize offers a unique and seamless integration between the iOS app and web platform providing users access to all their key shopping history, even while on the go. The app makes it easy to upload receipts, to view spending history and to manage shopping using smart, timely shopping lists.

“For laptop/PC/MAC users, the website provides a rich data experience offering detailed personal insights into an individual’s own shopping behaviour.

“Over time, the Shopitize system will learn to interact individually with each member, making it even easier for shoppers to manage their purchases. More importantly, as the number of shoppers increases, so too will the type of rewards they will receive.”
