Award winning Simply Ice Cream has launched a new variant, Salted Caramel.
The hand-made ice cream is now available nationwide in Cook stores (in own branded packaging), independent farm shops and delicatessens.
It comes in two sizes: a 120ml tub (RRP £2) and a 500ml tub (RRP £4.99).
The last few months have seen Simply Ice Cream go from strength to strength.
From humble beginnings in a Kent kitchen, the brand is now available in over 400 outlets nationwide, including Waitrose. Its two biggest sellers are Dreamy Vanilla and Heavenly Honeycomb Crunch.
The business will turn over £750,000 in 2015 and sales are up 72% in the first four months of 2015, compared with the same period in 2014.
It was once described by James Martin on Saturday Kitchen as “the best bought ice cream available” and is made the old-fashioned way: by hand, in small batches.
Sally Newall, the firm’s founder, began by making the ice cream herself. Now she employs 12 people and will take on more staff this year.
While the UK remains a focus, Newall is already eying up export markets to drive the next phase of the company’s growth.
“While we continue to build the business across the UK, we are also looking to grow our exports. We are already exporting to Belgium and next month will begin in the Middle East. This region is a particular focus for us, because people really have a soft spot for high quality ice cream.”
Simply Ice Cream uses only natural, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients, and there are no artificial colours, additives or preservatives.
Newallm is adamant that “our absolute focus on quality is what’s driving our success”.
Simply has won 30 awards for its ice cream, including the prestigious Gold Three Star award at the Great Taste Awards. This is the highest accolade bestowed by the Guild of Fine Food. In August 2015, Cinnamon and Coconut were both awarded with stars.
Other award winning flavours include: Divine Chocolate; Sublime Strawberry; Raspberry; Lemon Curd; Stem Ginger & Marmalade; Pistachio; Mango Sorbet and Lemon Sorbet.
