Antonia and Jonny: Dragons’ Den pitch

Nursem, the caring skincare brand developed by a nurse and for nurses to counter the harsh effects of constant hand washing, made a prime-time TV appearance on Dragons’ Den on 1 April at 8pm on BBC1 and won offers from all five Dragons.

Nursem was launched in 2019 via Crowdfunder by paediatric nurse Antonia Philp, and her husband Jonny, after Antonia suffered with sore, cracked and bleeding hands as a result of handwashing, which forced her to take sick leave. She counts herself as one of the 87% of nurses in the UK who suffer from contact dermatitis as a result of excessive hand washing, which is estimated to cost the NHS up to £9m a year.

The brand currently donates a month’s supply of hand cream to an NHS nurse or midwife for every product sold in the UK via its Nursem Promise pledge, which has given back to over 175,000 nurses and midwives to date, helping to bring them one step closer to achieving their mission – to provide free hand cream to every NHS nurse of midwife by 2025.
