Small Business Saturday is returning to UK for third year on 5 December 2015

Building on the huge success of 2013 and 2014, Small BusinessSaturday is returning to the UK for its third year on 5 December 2015. A day to celebrate the quality and diversity of the nation’s independent businesses, Small Business Saturday is now one of the most important Christmas days in the shopping calendar and the UK’s most successful grassroots small business campaign.

Last year 16.5m adults went out to shop small on Small BusinessSaturday, spending £504m, and providing a significant boost to small businesses.

Principal supporter American Express is once again helping small businesses attract customers in the lead-up to Christmas, encouraging more people to shop small.

  • A Shop Small offer will reward American Express Cardmembers with a £5 statement credit every time they spend £10 or more with their registered Card at participating small businesses from 5-20 December, giving them even more reasons to shop small
  • The creation of an interactive Shop Small map so customers know where to find participating businesses, available at:
  • A national advertising campaign celebrating the ‘Heroes of our high streets’
  • Small businesses can access – free of charge – the American Express Ad Creator tool** which gives them the opportunity to create personalised digital advertising to increase their online visibility. American Express will promote the finished adverts online to potential customers in their local area.

American Express accepting merchants who have been invited to register for the Shop Small campaign, and who are applying to take part for the first time, must do so by 23:59 on 14 November.  Businesses who are already registered must also log on to check their details are correct by 23:59 on 19 November 2015, to ensure their business is accurately displayed on the Shop Small map. The interactive map will be available to all UK shoppers ahead of Small Business Saturday. For further information and to register, please visit
