Advanced Supply Chain: Sox and Asda contract

Irish sock manufacturer, Sox Express, has appointed Advanced Supply Chain (ASC) to run a warehousing and distribution operation for key customer Asda.

Sox Express is one of the world’s largest sock producers, making nearly 100m pairs of socks each year.

The company said it chose Advanced to handle its warehousing contract after starting work with the logistics provider’s transport team.

Sox Express operations director, Robert Leckie, said: “We had used Advanced for delivering product to our customer’s distribution centres and were so impressed by the people and the service that we moved our entire warehousing contract to them as well.

”ASC offer excellent facilities and their attention to detail is second to none. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, which gave us great faith that our product would get delivered on time, every time.”

Sox Express was founded in 2009 and supplies socks to major UK retailers, including Matalan, George at Asda, Dunnes and H&M. The company is now looking to expand into Europe.

Mike Danby, chief executive officer of Advanced Supply Chain, said: “This contract extension further cements our relationship with Sox Express and is a clear indicator of our great levels of customer service. It’s good to see that we have built up such close working relationships and we look forward to helping deliver their expansion plans.”

Advanced Supply Chain said it is an end-to-end logistical provider that can manage every element of the supply chain, from the factory door to the sales floor. The company employs more than 800 people and works with high street names, such as Debenhams, George (Asda), GO Outdoors, Makro, Matalan and Sports Direct.
