Premium Somerset meat brand, field&flower, has won a listing in award-winning Spar Walthamstow and is looking to expand to other independent food shops and delis in 2012.

The move follows success for the monthly meat box scheme, established by James Mansfield and James Flower.

The company rears and butchers its own grass-fed traditional breed cattle on Home Farm in North Somerset; where the Flower family has been farming in this area for five generations.  It also claims to ethically source the best free range pork, lamb and chicken from neighbouring farms.

Mansfield said: “At field&flower we offer a variety of free range, high welfare, premium grass fed Somerset meat all year round.  We are proud to sell our meat at the Village Stores in Walthamstow – they have an excellent shop championing small producers and that’s what we’re all about.

“We offer guaranteed sustainable provenance, and ensure all meat has been well hung and traditionally hand-butchered. We are looking to find more like minded shop owners and increase our listings across the UK. We have a wide selection of cuts available for retail from meatballs and burgers to pork belly, lamb chops, free-range chicken and woodpigeon breasts.

Co-owner of Village Stores Spar, James Brundle, said: “field&flower fit perfectly with what we are trying to achieve. Customer experience is paramount to us and being able to offer this premium meat is excellent. Just because you live in urban London doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have access to top quality produce.”
