New Spar store at Salzburg station features a bistro
Spar Austria has opened a new supermarket with an in-store bistro in Salzburg station.
According to the retailer, the format offers travellers through Salzburg station everything they need, from food-to-go to dine-in menus.
Spar said the new store underscores its role as Salzburg’s number one retailer and is part of an extensive railway station project in Austria, which will be extended in the autumn with the opening of an Interspar hypermarket at Wien-Mitte station.
“The new Spar supermarket is not only an upgrade for the new, beautiful central station but also for the station quarter and the entire city of Salzburg,” said Gerhard Drexel, CEO of Spar Austria. “Residents, commuters and tourists have the opportunity to stock up on food and everyday goods.”
Spar said the store has been designed to perfectly suit the surroundings of Salzburg’s main station, with a glass facade, low shelves and colours that match the station’s design. It has also created 70 new jobs.
New Edition Zotter chocolate bars
Spar Austria has also launched a new premium own label range of chocolate bars and ice cream called Edition Zotter.
Four chocolate bars from master chocolatier Josef Zotter are now available in all Austrian Spar, Eurospar and Interspar stores.
Zotter has also created six exclusive organic ice creams made with organic Fairtrade chocolate from the Styrian ice cream producer Valentino. Flavours include pumpkin seed praline, dark or white chocolate.
Drexel said: “We are extremely proud to offer gourmet fans the delicious chocolate creations of Spar premium Edition Zotter, in addition to the top lines Edition Johanna Maier and Edition Erich Stekovics.”
The Spar Premium range is claimed to offer products made from carefully selected ingredients, produced in small batches by specialists with great attention to detail.
