Spar brand is introducing a range of on-trend additions to its adults and kids confectionery offerings, to keep the line-up feeling fresh and relevant for shoppers.
Three new products, Lemon Sherbets, Butter Mintoes and Fun Mix (all PMP £1) will join the adults’ range, while Ice Cream Cones, Myles the Meerkat Jellies and Sour Snakes (all PMP three for £1) will enter the kids’ offering.
Spar is currently seeing a 3% rise in sugar confectionery sales, with sharing bags and vintage variations in particular supporting this growth, said Bhavika Thakrar, Spar UK senior brand manager.
“Sugar confectionery is in growth, showing that there is a strong demand as consumers look for confectionery as a treat.
“Spar brand confectionery lines tap all the latest trends – our Sour Snakes fill a key gap in our range, as sour flavours are seeing large growth, while the new Lemon Sherbets tap the current popularity of citrus flavours,” she said.
The range will also help Spar retailers make the most of the trend for sharing bags and pouches, which are rising in popularity as shoppers become more conscious of portion sizes, buying the pack for the value and enjoying it in intervals, said Thakrar.
“Vintage sweet variations, like Lemon Sherbets and Butter Mintoes, are also all on the rise, with a recent survey finding that classic lines dominate Britain’s top 20 favourite sweets,” she added.
An extensive in-store marketing, digital and radio campaign will support the new products, including PoS, Spar Live Radio, social media, and on the Spar website.
