Spar International chief executive Gordon Campbell shared his expertise and passion for the people in retail with the audience at this year’s World Retail Congress.
At the global event, held in Berlin from 25-28 September 2011, Campbell explored how well retail companies know their customers. Campbell and his co-presenters shared the latest analysis and case studies to discuss the importance of understanding the consumer.
Campbell discussed how people all over the world, irrespective of location or income, require a similar shopping experience – well displayed products, with appealing merchandising, offering value for money and excellent service.
Campbell also showcased recently opened Spar stores in Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe; as well as in several regions of Russia.
“Partnership is one of our core values, and by working together, we all benefit,” said Campbell.
“As the world’s largest organisation of independent retailers, with over 12,136 Spar stores in 34 countries, Spar is able to draw on the strengths of each partner and to work together on the implementation of best international practice in all areas of our retail and wholesale operations,” he said.
