New Spar CSR web site

Spar International has launched a web site dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR), called Strategy2Sustain.

The site was unveiled at the Spar International sustainability forum, held in Amsterdam. According to Spar, it demonstrates the retailer’s belief in the importance of sustainability to its future success as a global business.

Spar International managing director Gordon Campbell said Strategy2Sustain would help create awareness of the active engagement of many Spar countries with CSR, at local and national level.

“The site clearly shows there has already been incredible diversity in the projects undertaken by partners in Spar countries, with various exciting initiatives taking place within areas affecting the climate, the products we sell, our people and relating to our community involvement,” said Campbell.

“Retailers, staff and wholesalers, as well as the public, have been involved in the many sustainability and CSR-related projects that we are highlighting on the Strategy2Sustain site,” he said.

The launch of Strategy2Sustain marks the first time Spar has released an international forum to the public and media, as until now the site was visible only on the company’s intranet, Spar Connect.

Strategy2Sustain is designed to help improve the commitment among Spar partners worldwide to sustainability and CSR, enabling retailers and wholesalers to learn from the achievements of their international colleagues.

The site also includes case studies, to help support Spar countries in the execution of their sustainability strategy. According to Spar, the information is updated regularly to keep visitors fully up to date.

“Sustainability and CSR are firmly on the Spar International agenda, and the fantastic range of community and charity-related activities that retailers and wholesalers are engaged in will only increase with the launch of Strategy2Sustain,” said Campbell.

Plans for the further development of the Strategy2Sustain web site will be announced in due course.
