Spar retailers are springing into action to support Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal once again this year.
Following Spar’s first year of supporting Marie Curie when they raised more than £640,000 for charity, Spar stores are donning their yellow daffodils again in 2018 to support this hugely worthy cause.
From 1 March until 31 March, Spar stores in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will support Marie Curie’s largest annual fundraising campaign.
Spar stores will be selling daffodil pins with a suggested donation of £1 each and will also run a number of fundraising activities in March to support the campaign, including:
- Go Yellow days for employees
- Donations from the sales of a number of well-known brands including, Daz, Hartley’s jam, McVities biscuits, Mars pouches and SPAR Brand coffee
- Support from SPAR radio and social media
For every donation given and every daffodil worn, Marie Curie can provide more free care to people living with a terminal illness and their families, said Spar UK marketing controller Laura McNally: “This is a great opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause and get behind our national charity partner.
“Marie Curie’s nurses help people living with terminal illnesses and their families to make the most of the time they have left. Our retailers are helping everyone have the care and support they need at the end of their life, by supporting Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal,” McNally said.
Helen Stock, senior corporate account manager at Marie Curie, added: “We are thrilled that SPAR stores getting behind Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal this year. The money raised from all these wonderful activities will ensure Marie Curie can continue providing vital support across the UK for people with a terminal illness and their families. A huge thank you to everyone at SPAR!”
