Spar and St Mary’s church in Betws-y-coed have raised £2,400 for local charities.
The money raised will be divided between a local children’s hospice and water aid.
Rachael Evans, store owner, her family and other members of the church and community have raised thousands of pounds over the last 35 years for local and third world charities.
The store tirelessly fundraises for the church, local primary school and other local projects all year round, providing raffle prizes, food and volunteering their time. It also sponsosr the local football team, again having had help financing kit from the Blakemore Foundation.
In addition to the stores fundraising efforts, a £150 donation was awarded to the store through the Blakemore Foundation’s Independent Retailer Scheme.
AF Blakemore extended the offering of its charitable trust in May 2013 to recognise the wide range of community activity undertaken by independent Spar stores across the Meridian & Welsh Guild.
The Blakemore Foundation represents 2% of AF Blakemore’s pre-tax profits and so far 10 retailers have benefited from the scheme, which provides a £150 match fund donation to local good causes supported by independent retailers.
Rachael Evans, Spar Betws-y-coed, said: “We are very grateful to the Blakemore foundation for their donation to our charitable work through the church, thank you.”
