Spar UK has launched a media centre, offering FMCG suppliers an opportunity to communicate their promotions with convenience customers in Spar stores across the UK.
Based within its central office in Harrow, Spar said the media centre will provide suppliers with a cost-efficient, integrated and powerful way of raising awareness of their brands to nearly 5m convenience customers, who generate 13m transactions every week in Spar stores.
The media centre has been developed in a partnership with shopper media and marketing agency, Retail Marketing International (RMI), and will allow manufacturers to target customers in Spar stores through a range of broadcasting communication channels such as in-store radio adverts, shelf talkers and promotional stands.
Philippe Rondepierre, Spar UK head of marketing, said: “The new Spar Media Centre brings together Spar’s extensive range of store communication channels into one central location whilst enabling us to up-weight our new and exciting media and advertising plans for 2013/14.
“The programme of promotions on offer through the Media Centre will be developed to boost Spar’s position as having relevant product campaigns for the value-conscious convenience shopper.
“We have also developed bespoke software with RMI to ensure that planning, executing and evaluating each marketing campaign is as simple as possible, plus we are able to demonstrate the return on investment through the improved product focus instore.
“We are very confident the Spar Media Centre is a resource that will also add huge importance to the strategic marketing and communications plans our suppliers have, and in addition maximising their business within Spar,” said Rondepierre.
Other media channels will include: the Spar website, outdoor posters, car park sampling, refrigerator decals, window posters, in-store sampling, leaflets, shelf stripping, tear off talkers, fixture headers, product stickering, ceiling boards, fixtures and mailshots.
