Spar UK: engaging consumers online

Spar UK is launching its first digital magazine for customers in a bid to interact with shoppers online.

The first issue is a Christmas special. According to Spar, it brings consumers information and advice to help them have the perfect Christmas, and highlights specific Christmas content on www.spar.co.uk.

The ‘publication’ will include recipes, activities, tips and advice as well as competitions, in a page-turning digital format and will be sent to Spar’s online database of 27,000 consumers.

Adam Margolin, Spar UK head of marketing support, said: “This magazine will help promote to our customers all the great online content we currently have on our site in a bite size easy to read form.

“It then links back to more information directly on our web site helping our customers where we can in the busy festive period,” he said.

“The Spar magazine will deliver content to consumers while driving them to what we believe they will find useful,” he said. “These are two of the key objectives within our digital strategy – to drive traffic and engage consumers.”

The first ‘magazine’ was released on 3 December 2010 and was created by Stream Publishing.

The Spar UK web site is reported to have gone from strength to strength since it’s relaunch in February and now attracts monthly traffic of over 75,000.
