Spar UK is offering six young people the opportunity to travel the world and report back on Spar in countries all over the world – 14 countries in four continents in four months – via social media.
The See the World with Spar campaign is the first international social media campaign from the retailer and invites young people to enter a competition to win a trip to travel across different Spar countries, report back and blog about their experiences through Facebook and Twitter.
The campaign will initially be open to participants from six Spar countries – UK, Ireland, South Africa, Slovenia, Norway and Italy; with one from each country invited to report about Spar’s presence via social media.
The winning reporter from each country will travel primarily on their own for around five months, reporting through social media on their activities.
Aimed at 18-35 year olds, applicants must submit a video illustrating why they are the ideal reporter, with the highest scorers going into a pool of potential winners. To win, applicants make and upload a fun video. The winner picked will have the most ‘likes’ for their video, helping to create social noise around the competition, said Spar.
Each country will then run an assessment session reviewing the videos and select three candidates to go to Amsterdam for the final stages. Winners will then be announced. The competition will run until 18 May 2012.
Soar UK marketing manager Rebecca Whitmore said: “This is a fantastic competition and a great way to link and promote the strong international brand that Spar represents. It also offers a fantastic way for Spar to connect and engage with young people, who are the target of the competition.”
The campaign will be run both in store and digitally, with Facebook set to be a major driver of the activity.
