Subway unveils Tiger Bread trial

From today, selected Subway stores will trial a new Tiger Bread to join the range of eight other bread variations available at Subway.  The Tiger Bread brings a new taste experience by adding a brand new crunchy texture to any Sub on the menu.  

Tiger Bread has been developed by Subway innovation team to give a new crispy, crusty and crackled white bread crust, offering guests more choice for their favourite Sub. Results from a recent consumer research panel showed that there was strong appeal for Tiger Bread, with participants raving that they ‘loved the texture of the bread’. 

Bread is at the heart of the Subway business. The Tiger Bread, as with all bread at Subway, is made from 100% British flour, exclusively from a supplier based in Wales and Northern Ireland. Along with the serving of the fresh vegetables, each Sub, wrap and salad is made in front of the guest, with freshly prepared quality ingredients.

Using 100% British flour in its bread is one element of Subway’s ‘Sourcing Responsibly’ pillar within its ‘Fresh CSR Agenda’, which is built around three key pillars and encompasses a range of issues, challenges and opportunities for the brand and its franchise owners and supply chain partners: Sourcing Responsibly, which covers supply chain and animal welfare practices; Serving Guests Sustainably, which includes reviewing the use of proprietary single use packaging and raising the nutritional quality of products and Supporting Communities, by generating prosperity through purchasing, employment and commercial activity, including supporting community and charity initiatives.

Each store bakes its own bread throughout the day on the premises to meet guest demand. The dough is meticulously prepared through the stages of  an hour-long proofing and careful seasoning to create the hearty Italian, Italian Herb & Cheese and the 9-Grain Wheat, before being baked, cooled and served on demand.
