Leading foodservice, retail and food manufacturing supplier, Summit Foods, is celebrating 30 years in business and announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility and workforce.
The Lancashire-based supplier of cooked meat based products was founded in August 1981 by two butchers and is now a family-run business owned and managed by husband and wife team Dean and Vanessa Lewis.
It has grown to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bespoke snacks, prepared meals and meat ingredients to retailers, foodservice outlets and food manufacturers.
The company is building a new manufacturing facility at its Bamber Bridge, Preston, site, which will increase its size from 26,000sq ft to 38,500sq ft.
And it is planning to recruit a further 30 staff, taking its total number of employees to 200.
Director Vanessa Lewis said: “We are delighted and proud to mark this major milestone in the ongoing success story of Summit Foods. And it’s even more pleasing that we can celebrate our 30th anniversary with the news that we are expanding the business by growing our workforce and expanding our premises.
“In many ways the business has changed beyond recognition with more employees, a bigger premises, new techniques and processes and a much more varied product range.
“But in other ways we haven’t changed at all. We remain true to the company’s founding principles of combining consistent quality with good value. And we are ascommitted as ever to the highest standards of food safety and quality.
“Working with our customers to help them profit from fast growing food market sectors is another key focus which hasn’t wavered over the years.”
Summit Foods will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a party for employees and the company’s suppliers on 28 August 2011 at Chorley Rugby Club. The party will feature family entertainment including a rodeo, bouncy castle and giant slide as well as food and refreshments including a hog roast.
