Sunny D, Orangina Schweppes’ juice drink brand, has added two flavours to its range: Orange & Raspberry and Orange & Passion Fruit.
The company has also updated the drink’s recipe, after a year of trials and consultation with families. The product range now contains vitamins – A, C D and E – and has no artificial colours, preservatives, or sweeteners added.
Sitting alongside the existing Florida and California varieties, the new flavours have launched into the chilled section of supermarkets. Sunny D is targeted at mums who are looking for a great value juice drink that they know their children will enjoy, said Organina Schweppes.
Sunny D is reported to be one of the most popular kids’ juice drinks on the market today, seeing 25.1% volume growth during 2012 (source: IRI 52 w/e 5 Jan 2013), making it the fifth largest chilled brand in the chilled juice category.
The 200ml product, which comes in lunchbox friendly cartons, was recently awarded “Best Children’s Drink” at the Product of the Year Awards 2013. The awards, which recognise quality and innovation, were announced in January and have been running for 25 years.
James Logan, commercial director at Gerber Juice Company, which produces Sunny D said: “Sunny D has proven that it has a place in the modern family basket. We’re really proud of the new range and are delighted that our juice drink has been recognised by these national awards.”
“We carried out extensive research and product trials with parents and children who helped to guide us towards the new flavours and the new look for Sunny D. Sunny D is all about a simple moment of enjoyment and we feel the new packs reflect this.”
The new flavours, available in 1-litre bottles, are priced at £1.29 and will be listed across all major multiples. The 5x200ml multipacks are priced at £1.99 or 2 for £3.00.
The new products will be supported with a national print campaign during summer and a year round social media campaign.
