Superdrug to give all staff an additional day off this year to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Superdrug, the leading health and beauty retailer with over 800 stores in the UK, has today announced that it will gift over 18,000 workers across the Superdrug and Savers businesses with an additional day off to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Superdrug and Savers stores will remain open to serve customers over the four-day weekend beginning 2nd June. However, colleagues throughout Superdrug and Savers stores, distribution centres and head office will be able to take an additional day off to enjoy themselves throughout the celebratory period.

The move, as well as celebrating an iconic moment in British history, is a thank you from the brand for the incredible hard work their teams have undertaken over the last two years, in what has been a challenging time for all in the retail industry.

Superdrug is encouraging other retailers to make the same move and reward the hard work of colleagues with an extra day off for this amazing milestone.

Superdrug CEO Peter Macnab explained: “As a proud British business, we are delighted to be able to give all UK colleagues an additional day off to mark such an incredible moment in British history. We have seen that our retail workers are some of the hardest working people in the country, particularly throughout the last two years. We hope that other forward thinking businesses will follow our lead and give their staff a well-deserved break to enjoy the celebrations this year.”

The extra day off will apply to all colleagues across the UK (including Isle of Man & Jersey) and for colleagues in Dundee, this year’s Victoria Day Bank Holiday will also be shuffled to fall on Thursday 2nd June.

Superdrug stores will remain open and opening hours will be undisrupted over the bank holiday period. Superdrug shoppers can locate their nearest store by visiting the store finder on
