Turtle Doves, the British design and manufacturing company specialising in recycled cashmere clothes and accessories, is to add 70 new jobs, making a total of 100 new jobs in 2021.
The Shropshire-based online and in-store retailer, which employs 95% women, is currently experiencing its best ever financial period and has secured additional working capital finance to enable growth through the recruitment of seamstresses in the Midlands, where there is a high volume of experienced textiles workers.
Turtle Doves continued to trade well throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, with online orders increasing during successive national lockdowns, and is investing in additional manufacturing capacity to support its next growth phase.
Turtle Doves believes passionately in British craftsmanship and sustainability, with 100% of its products made from pre-loved cashmere jumpers. The business has committed to paying its employees a healthy wage whilst keeping prices competitive through clever in-house design and direct-to-consumer sales.
Graham Holbrook, owner of Turtle Doves, said: “We are proud to be supporting British manufacturing through the creation of 70 new jobs, at a time when the UK unemployment rate is high. Investing in skilled people and additional manufacturing capacity enables us to accelerate growth and deliver new, exciting opportunities for Turtle Doves.
“We are an environmentally friendly business and our handmade, recycled products meet growing consumer demand for sustainable retail. We believe firmly in female employment and offering all the flexibility required, including homeworking and a fair wage.”
