Tesco is investing £20m in a new distribution centre in Enfield for its e-commerce business and Express convenience chain.
It will be developed in partnership with Gazeley, a leading provider of sustainable logistics.
The 152,000sq ft unit will be located on the 15.5 acre G.Park Enfield site, one of the largest industrial warehouse sites on the M25, and is due for completion in the first quarter of the year.
The building will be a merged distribution function for the docom and Express parts of the business, serving Tesco customers across north London and the home counties.
Nigel Godfrey, senior vice president of UK operations at Gazeley, said: “E-commerce developments are an increasing requirement for retailers and being able to deliver efficiently and effectively is vital. We are looking to build on this deal to deliver solutions for major companies that have urgent requirements for such facilities.”
