The Fresh Fish Shop wins RNF’s Big App Giveaway


The Fresh Fish Shop has been chosen as the quarter two winner of
RNF’s Big App Giveaway competition.

The Sussex-based fishmonger and wholesaler, which operates from its
Haywards Heath store, supplies farm shops, delicatessens, speciality
grocers and online food retailers with its own premium-packaged fish,
as well as selling direct to the public from its shop, online and at a
number of farmers’ markets.

Sebastian Candelon, managing director at The Fresh Fish Shop, said:
“We’re really excited to win this round of the Big App Giveaway.
Our premium packaged seafood wholesale business is steadily growing
and we’ve reached a stage where we really need an app to help
streamline and optimise our sales and ordering processes. 

“As the only growth channel in the wholesale sector, digital is key
to our long-term business plan but, as a smaller wholesaler, we were
concerned that start-up costs could prove prohibitive. Winning the
competition means we can now benefit from the independent expertise of
the RNF team to develop an app that works for our business, accessing
the same technology as bigger wholesalers in a format that allows us
to scale up our digital offer as our business continues to grow.”

The Big App Giveaway is part of celebrations to mark RNF’s 10th
anniversary and the launch of its Beam Commerce Platform. It gives
four wholesalers – one per quarter during 2019 – the opportunity to
win their own fully-branded Beam Commerce app for a year. The first
winner, Multihope, was announced in April, with its app due to go live

Rob Mannion, founder and managing director of RNF, said: “Once
again, we’ve had a great response to the competition and are looking

their app.

customers. This is a key part of its functionality, ensuring customer
communications are relevant and timely as well as opening up new

“The Fresh Fish Shop, and all future winners of the competition,
will also benefit from a 12 month licence for food product data
provider Erudus, allowing it to provide enhanced product data to its
customers during the ordering process.”

Applications for the third round of the Big App Giveaway are now open.
