The Kay Group partners with Too Good To Go to combat food waste

Leading forecourt retailer, The Kay Group, has joined forces with food waste management app, Too Good To Go, in a bid to reduce its food waste from across its convenience sites. 

Leading the food waste movement, Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, pubs and producers to stop it from going to waste. Consumers simply download the free Too Good To Go app and search for nearby businesses with unsold produce. They then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and enjoy it. 

The Kay Group is initially trialling Too Good To Go at six of its SPAR locations: Ellesmere Port, Beighton, Rockingham, Burnley, Clitheroe, and Nelson. The Magic Bags available are filled with a selection of grocery items fruit, vegetables, meat, bread and more. The Grocery Magic Bags cost £3.50 each, but contain a selection of food items worth up to £10.20. 

Since the launch of the trial two weeks ago, The Kay Group has already saved over 200 Magic Bags filled with delicious surplus food that would have otherwise been wasted.
